On Monday, June 6th at the Incline/Crystal Bay Citizens Advisory Board meeting, EKN’s Ebbie Nakhjavani, the Irvine developer who bought Boulder Bay went on at length but said very little.
To recap:
One wonders if they are out of money. EKN claims that is not the case. We hear they are in escrow to buy the Cedar Glen Lodge in Tahoe Vista.
Stay tuned. What next?

Thank you for all the work you are doing. I don’t trust anything that these developers are saying, and I’m wondering about TRPA now. I plan to look up the original legislation to see what is exactly expected of each of the counties. Placer seems to defer most things to TRPA rules, and decisions. Washoe, seems to have other ways of handling development. It is very scary. Talk of removing/excavating so much and then potential just leaving it (like the “hole in the ground” at SLT/Stateline) is a real possibility. We can’t allow that, and no one who cares about this area should even consider it. They have already permitted the destruction of the Biltmore cabins’ roofs, windows, interiors, and now it’s OK to leave it like that? Unthinkable!
My main concern is the big picture. North Lake Tahoe isn’t a valley like SLT, and we don’t have the geographical space to handle more large buildings, nor the people and cars that would fill them. And there are no more beaches. Those we have are crowded & private, or public and jammed already. The roads are congested/gridlocked when it’s busy season. I just don’t see a future in large developments up here.
Also, the big unknown: Cal-Neva. No plans for any of these large projects should be approved individually. All plans should be on the table for TRPA to make the best assessments they can of impacts, regardless of the state lines. This seems essential to have good congruence of services, parking, number of rooms allowed, staff housing, etc.
